Marjorie Craig Crowley - 2023 NFHOF Inductee
(Born: March 9, 1912 – Died: February 20, 2003) a best-selling author of fitness books in the late 1960s and early 1970s, died Friday of congestive heart failure. She was 90. Her book, "Miss Craig's 21-Day Shape Up Program for Men and Women," was published in 1968 and "Miss Craig's Face-Saving Exercises" was published in 1970; both were best sellers. Miss Crowley was the director of exercise for Elizabeth Arden Salon in Manhattan for 30 years, stepping down in 1982.
George F. Jowett - 2023 NFHOF Inductee
(Born: December 23, 1891 – Died: July 11, 1969) was an English-born Canadian strongman, weightlifter, magazine editor and author was one of the first to offer strength correspondence courses to people at a time when there really were relatively few gymnasiums. He was born December 23, 1891 in England and lived there until 1911 when he immigrated to Canada. In 1923 he moved to Pittsburgh and then Scranton, Pennsylvania where he established the Jowett Institute of Physical Culture. Also in the early 1920s, Jowett and Ottley Coulter formed the American Continental Weightlifting Association to standardize records. In later years Jowett established the Body Sculpture Club in England and became the public warden for his local church.
